As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP of Solutions Engineering to lead our Solutions Engineering team. This role is critical in driving the technical direction of our pre-sales efforts and ensuring that our customers understand the value and potential of our solutions.

 

Job Summary:

The VP of Solutions Engineering will lead a team of Solutions Engineers (SEs) responsible for technical sales support, solution design, and customer onboarding. This role involves working closely with sales leadership to develop and implement strategies for engaging prospects, understanding customer needs, and delivering custom-tailored solutions. The VP will also be responsible for optimizing pre-sales processes, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring that the Solutions Engineering team effectively bridges the gap between sales and product.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the Solutions Engineering team, ensuring that they provide high-level technical expertise to support sales efforts. Oversee team development, training, and performance.

Pre-sales Strategy: Develop and implement pre-sales strategies in collaboration with sales leadership. Ensure that Solutions Engineers deliver exceptional technical presentations, product demos, and proof-of-concepts that address customer needs and showcase the value of our solutions.

Customer Engagement: Work closely with prospective and existing customers to understand their technical requirements, identify potential challenges, and deliver tailored solutions that address business needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure alignment on customer feedback, feature requests, and product development priorities. Act as a key liaison between the sales and product teams to ensure the right solutions are delivered.

Technical Sales Enablement: Equip the sales team with the necessary technical resources, knowledge, and tools to engage with prospects effectively. Assist in the creation of technical sales content, including presentations, demos, and technical documentation.

Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve the pre-sales process, including the creation and maintenance of templates, tools, and workflows that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Customer Solutions Architecture: Lead complex, multi-faceted customer engagements by overseeing the design and architecture of comprehensive solutions that meet client specifications and scale with their growth.

Team Growth & Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop top talent for the Solutions Engineering team. Foster a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and customer-centricity.

Metrics & Reporting: Establish and track key performance metrics for the Solutions Engineering team. Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on team performance, sales support activities, and the impact of technical solutions on sales outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 8+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales Engineering, or a related technical role within a B2B SaaS company, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or executive-level capacity.

• Deep technical expertise in SaaS platforms, cloud technologies, and solution architecture.

• Proven track record of leading successful pre-sales or solutions engineering teams, with demonstrated success in driving revenue growth through technical sales support.

• Strong customer-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience in building and developing high-performance teams.

• Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.

• Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and technical sales tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic and data-driven approach.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes.

• Familiarity with specific industry verticals relevant to the company’s product offerings.

• Experience with sales methodologies such as Challenger Sales, Solution Selling, or SPIN Selling.
