As we scale, we’re looking for a Solutions Engineering Director to lead and optimize our solutions engineering team, driving technical engagement with prospects and customers and ensuring our solutions are effectively tailored to meet their needs.

 

Job Summary:

The Solutions Engineering Director will oversee the Solutions Engineering team, responsible for providing pre-sales technical expertise, conducting product demonstrations, and designing custom solutions for potential clients. You will work closely with sales, product, and customer success teams to ensure prospects fully understand the value of our solutions and that implementations are smooth and successful. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive success across the pre-sales process.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow the Solutions Engineering team, ensuring they are equipped with the technical knowledge and sales skills needed to succeed in a high-growth environment.

Pre-Sales Engagement: Work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements, demonstrate product capabilities, and position our solutions to meet the specific needs of each prospect.

Solution Design & Customization: Lead the team in designing customized SaaS solutions, providing in-depth technical expertise to help prospects visualize how our product will solve their business challenges.

Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with the company’s product offerings and industry trends, ensuring the team is well-versed in new features, integrations, and use cases. Act as a technical expert during high-profile sales opportunities.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to communicate customer requirements and feedback, helping to shape product development and prioritization.

Process Optimization: Continuously improve the pre-sales process, ensuring it’s efficient, scalable, and aligned with the overall sales strategy. Refine documentation, technical resources, and demo strategies to enhance the team’s effectiveness.

Customer Advocacy: Act as the voice of the customer during product discussions, helping to ensure our solutions are aligned with customer needs and that technical feedback is fed back to the product teams.

Post-Sales Transition: Support the post-sales handoff to the customer success or implementation teams, ensuring a seamless transition and proper technical knowledge transfer.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report on key performance metrics for the Solutions Engineering team, such as time to solution, win rates, and customer satisfaction, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

Hiring & Development: Lead recruitment efforts to grow the team, and oversee onboarding and professional development programs to ensure new hires ramp up quickly.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 7+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales, or a related technical sales role within a B2B SaaS environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

• Strong understanding of SaaS solutions, architecture, and integration models, with a proven track record of designing technical solutions that meet customer needs.

• Excellent leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing technical team.

• Proven experience collaborating with sales teams to close complex deals and provide technical guidance during the sales cycle.

• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions that resonate with stakeholders at all levels.

• Experience with API integrations, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise software ecosystems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in a high-growth SaaS company, particularly within mid-market or enterprise environments.

• Familiarity with sales methodologies such as Solution Selling, Challenger Sales, or Consultative Selling.

• Experience in scaling Solutions Engineering teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
